Who is this guy?

Part time photographer

About me

What you want to know

The first question I ask myself when I click on a photographer's website is: "Who is behind all these photos?" (and secretly: "What equipment is this person using?" *cough*).

The answer to the latter "secretly" asked question, and yet increasingly irrelevant information these days, is Nikon. More specifically, I switched from a DSLR (D800) to a Nikon mirrorless (Z6) some years ago.

An adequate answer to the first question seems to be much more extensive and can hardly do justice to the complexity of a single human life by means of a website content.

In a nutshell, however, the following things can be said about me.

My name is Manuel, I come from the high north of Germany and I am in my early 30's. In photography I am only a hobbyist and so I earn my daily living with a job in the public service. Beside photography I am occupied with a multiplicity of other things, e.g. riding a motorcycle, traveling, playing videogames, and much more.
Psychologically you can probably classify me as a "scanner guy". Others would simply say I have the attention span of a goldfish and therefore need constantly new stimuli but that's a blatant lie! 🙂

How I got into photography

Klick-Klick-Ratsch

The subject of photography has accompanied me since my childhood. At that time, my enthusiasm for SLR cameras began simply with the "click" sound of the shutter release, as well as the "Ritsch" to "reload" a new photo, so later I was fascinated by the possibility to capture a very specific moment for eternity with my pictures, or to be able to create the same afterwards.
Unfortunately, I had at that time as a student not enough money and also other spending priorities (console / computer) to be able to buy a good SLR camera. So I just sat for hours in front of the mail order catalogs (who knows such a thing today?!) and looked at the different camera types, which I could not afford. The years went by and only later with the beginning of my education I had finally saved enough money for my first DSLR! A Nikon D90. I dragged it with me everywhere and since then photography has never let me go. That was in 2009 and is now over a decade ago.

Why you should look at my pictures

About Instagramability

I hope my pictures arouse your interest and invite you to look longer and more consciously than on the classic Instagram picture. Since I also find it a pity when photos are just pointlessly hanging around on some hard drive and I also like to get me the one, or the other dopamine-triggering feedback, I see this platform as a way to present my artistic work to a larger circle of people. So to speak a permanent exhibition on the net 😉

Have fun with it!
